1930
September
Charles Kaupp Sr
SITA’s roots date all the way back to the 1930s, when Charles Kaupp, Sr. started his engineering career in Buffalo, NY. Throughout the decades, he worked as a Chief HVAC/Plumbing designer and partnered with numerous HVAC companies. In 1970, Charles and his son Chuck branched off to form their own business in Buffalo: Associated Systems Balancing, Inc.

Charles Kaupp, Jr. (Chuck)
During Charles time at Lahey & Associates Charles Kaupp, Jr. (Chuck) began to take interest in drafting and engineering, which led him to studies of drafting and engineering at Hutch Technical High School in 1960, one of only three Engineering High Schools in the State of New York, alumni included Charles Kaupp, Sr. (father) and Rick Kaupp (brother). His education continued at Erie County Technical Institute, while working part-time for Leo Gauthier & Associates Engineers.
In 1967, taking his education and training, Chuck began working full-time for Lahey & Associates Engineering. With changes in mechanical specifications, as well as a need in the Mechanical Engineering community.

Associated Systems Balancing Inc.
Associated Systems Balancing Inc. was established in 1970 by Charles Kaupp Sr., Charles Kaupp Jr. and Linda Kaupp. The company was the first Test and Balance company in Buffalo, NY. The company was sold in 1993, as the Kaupp family transitioned to Tampa, Florida.

Associated Systems Balancing Inc. assists in energy management program resulting in significant savings. This project garnered multiple awards for its energy savings.
1980

Southern Independent Testing Agency Established In Tampa, Florida
Chuck and his wife, Linda, started SITA in 1980 and they continue to have active roles in our company to this day. Under the leadership and vision of both Chuck and Linda, SITA has seen great success, holding both NEBB and AABC TAB Certifications, as well as the ACG Commissioning Certification.
1981

Hyatt Regency Hotel (currently Hilton) Downtown Tampa, Florida.
One of the first projects that SITA provided Testing, Adjusting & Balancing services.
1988

NEBB certified firm
SITA meets all requirements and is approved as a NEBB certified firm providing Testing and Balancing services. Charles Kaupp completes NEBB Certification for Testing, Adjusting & Balancing. https://www.nebb.org/

SITA meets all requirements and is approved as a Commissioning Authority through ACG. Charles Kaupp was recognized as a Charter member of ACG.” to ” Brian Kaupp meets all requirements for AABC Test and Balance Engineer.

Brian Kaupp named President of SITA
As of 2012, Brian has acted as the President of Southern Independent Testing Agency. Under Brian’s leadership, SITA has seen continuous growth in the company, not only in sales, but in reputation as well. His wife Thesesa has also joined SITA to add support to the accounting department, run by Linda Kaupp.
