Job Summary

The Mechanical System (HVAC) Data Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and feasibility of HVAC system designs before the Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) process begins. This position is responsible for reviewing mechanical plans, pre-engineering performance report forms,  verifying design specifications, identifying potential issues, and coordinating with engineers, contractors, and project managers to optimize HVAC system performance.

Mechanical System (HVAC) Data Analyst:

  • Review mechanical drawings, blueprints, and HVAC system designs to ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
  • Identify discrepancies or potential issues in HVAC plans that could impact air and water balancing.
  • Verify ductwork and piping layouts for proper airflow and
    hydraulic performance.

Technical Analysis & Coordination:

  • Analyze HVAC system capacities, air distribution, and control sequences for efficiency and compliance.
  • Communicate with engineers, architects, and contractors to clarify design intent and resolve conflicts.
  • Ensure designs align with ASHRAE, NEBB, AABC, or TABB standards.

Project Support & Documentation:

Project Support & Documentation:

  • Provide pre-balance reports and set up before TAB work begins.
  • Maintain accurate records of plan reviews, engineering changes, and project modifications.
  • Support quality assurance efforts by identifying areas for improvement in system design and implementation.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • HVAC Engineering, or related field or certification required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC design, plan review, or TAB-related engineering.
  • Prior experience with TAB processes and procedures is a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, air distribution, hydronic balancing, and building controls.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (ASHRAE, NEBB, AABC, TABB).
  • Must be proficient in Excel software with clear knowledge and understand of formulas and logical tests on values in cells.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
